Some things must be seen to be believed. If you told me there
were turquoise clouds over the Bahamas Banks, I wouldn't have
believed you. I sailed 33,000 miles around the world, and I never saw turquoise clouds anywhere until I came to the
Bahamas.
White sand beaches and turquoise waters are a soothing cure for
whatever ails you. No matter what problems you have, the stunningly
beautiful water will wash them all away in a
sea of turquoise.
Turquoise water is common on all the shallow banks of the Bahamas. The
banks look like giant swimming pools with turquoise gradients spreading out
in all directions. That's one of the attractions of the Bahamas - endless turquoise eye candy everywhere you look.
When the bright sun reflects off the shallow turquoise banks, the reflected
light turns the the smaller and thinner clouds into pure turquoise.
The thick cumulus clouds aren't penetrated by the reflected light, and only
the bases of the large cumuli light up with the turquoise color
The Grand Bahamas Banks east of Bimini are sixty miles
wide. The Banks are one of the best places in the world for
photographing turquoise clouds. When the sun comes out with gusto,
turquoise clouds start appearing all over the sky..
Turquoise water under a turquoise sky; it doesn't get much better than that.
Life is good.
